The 7 Gates Before Any Agent Can Act

Agents need a readiness layer that answers identity, authorization, context, risk, review, evidence, and attribution.

Core idea

Before an agent acts, the business has to pass seven gates.

Download the ChecklistTake the Scorecard

Point 1

The 7 Gates are simple: identity, authorization, context, risk, review, evidence, and attribution.

Point 2

Who or what is acting? Who gave permission? What information is being used? What could go wrong? Does a human need to approve it? What proof is captured? How do we measure the outcome?

Point 3

If you cannot answer those questions for a workflow, the agent should not have broad autonomy in that workflow.

Point 4

The point is not to slow the business down. The point is to make safe execution repeatable.

Point 5

Download the checklist, then apply it to one real workflow.
